The Appalachian Trail

Life is…

…scrambling into Birthday Month.

Hi Friends!

Greetings from Cheshire, Massachusetts!

Yesterday, to welcome Birthday Month, we left Albany and arrived in Lenox, Massachusetts.  Yes, we did go to Tanglewood to enjoy the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Last night and forward we stay in Bed and Breakfasts at night and hike during the day.

Today, leaving from Dalton, we hiked our first chunk of the Appalachian Trail. It was gorgeously green and wet.  We can see why the AT is sometimes called “the long green tunnel.”

Thanks to Matt for composing and completing our silly shot, top.  And thanks to Nolan and Eva for their contributions as well.

Here are a few pics that feel representative of today’s AT
Adventure.

Here’s a five-minute video of the day if you’d like to join us on the trail:

Two things about the video:
  • I don’t like the way IMovie displays several photos.  We may split over creative differences.
  • I was thoroughly in awe over all the kinds of fungus in the forest. (Berkshire County has had its wettest year in more than 100.)  That’s right, I said it.  I am all about the fungi today.  You’ll see them in the video.
This trip is absolutely everything we had hoped!

Remember everyone, when you’re at the edge of the cliff, hold on. With both hands!
