59 is so fine: AT Day 2
Life is…
Life is…
…sweet!
I turned 59 today on the Appalachian Trail, summiting Mt Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts. Impressed? It’s only 3500 feet tall. East Coast mountains are old and stubby. And our legs said that it was, in fact, an accomplishment.
That’s my birthday party celebration at lunch, above. Life is so sweet. We are together and healthy enough to hike another 10 miles today. We love and are loved. Thanks, all, for the birthday wishes!
The trail was still green and lush today, but there were some differences. For instance, we saw more flowers and berries and fewer (though still lovely) fungi. Lots of wooden planks for crossing a sometimes muddy trail.
The proprietors opened the summit’s Bascom Lodge just for us and our stay tonight. How very birthdayesque!
Here are a few shots of the day. Absolutely stunning! Not in order (thanks IPhone!). Movie to follow some other day.
We hope your life is particularly sweet today!
